Basketball
WNYL's Basketball Program
This is where residents of West Newbury can sign their players up for Basketball.
WNYL Basketball is Co-Ed in PreK/K and 1G/2G, but then the teams split up by gender for 3G/4G and 5G/6G.
Please Note: PYB (Pentucket Youth Basketball) is a separate Program and site. PYB is Pentucket's Travel Team program, compared to this site which is Rec League.
Ages / Divisions / Costs
- PreK/K @ $80
- 1G/2G @ $100
- 3G/4G @ $120
- 5G/6G @ $135
Please contact the Basketball Director to inquire about financial aid if needed.
When
Runs from early December until late February for PreK/K and 1G/2G, then into March for the older grades
Games
- 3G/4G will have games on Saturdays
- 5G/6G will primarily have games on Tuesday nights, with some Saturdays mixed in
Practices
- PreK/K and 1G/2G will have a combination Practice + Game on Saturdays
- 3G/4G will practice on Friday nights - the boys and girls alternate between 5:30pm/6:45pm
- 5G/6G will practice on Monday at 5:30pm, or Friday at 8:00pm
Where
- PreK/K and 1G/2G will be exclusively at the Page School gym
- 3G/4G and 5G/6G will practice and have Home games at the Page School gym; Away game locations will vary
Jerseys
Jerseys are included in the Registration cost and will be handed out by the Coach
Basketball Sizes
- PreK/K: Size 3 (22.0")
- 1G/2G: Size 4 (22.5")
- 3G/4G: Size 5 (27.5")
- 5G/6G: Size 6 (28.5")
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my player need to bring a Basketball? If so, what size?
For PreK/K WNYL will provide basketballs; for all other Divisions the players bring their own Basketballs. For the appropriate size to bring please see the "Basketball Sizes" widget above.
Should my player bring a changes of sneakers?
Players should bring a change of sneakers when the weather is wintery/salty.
Is this the site I should use to sign up for Travel Team Basketball?
